Two successful Aviation Camps are officially in the books! ✈️

Every June, the School of Aviation partners with Auburn University Regional Airport - AUO and Auburn Aerospace Engineering to provide an unparalleled, hands-on learning experience for rising 10th-12th graders. Our dedicated staff loves spending the week showcasing the incredible, diverse opportunities available in the aviation field and inspiring the next generation of aviators.

This July marked the first time we hosted the Aviation STEM Day Camp, which taught 8th-9th graders the science of flight through hands-on projects, including wind tunnels, rocket launches, and, of course, plenty of algebra!

We couldn’t do it alone—a special thank you to Auburn Youth Programs for helping us bring this camp to life!

On July 7, leadership from the Auburn University School of Aviation, along with Auburn University College of Liberal Arts Dean Jason Hicks, spent a fantastic day visiting our partners at Delta Air Lines. The trip was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our relationship and talk about future collaborations that will benefit our students.

During the visit, our team discussed pilot hiring and pathway programs and shared ideas on industry best practices. This was particularly valuable as Auburn builds its own Safety Management System, allowing us to learn directly from Delta's safety leaders. We also got a behind-the-scenes look at Delta TechOps and even had a chance to fly the A350 and A220 flight simulators.

A huge thank you to everyone at Delta for being such excellent hosts. We are excited to see how Auburn Aviation’s relationship with Delta continues to grow!

Unfortunately, due to a mix of technical issues as well as weather delays, neither Team 63 nor 64 were able to complete the Air Race Classic. The safety of our racers will always be our biggest commitment, and so the executive decision was made to withdraw from the race. Auburn Aviation is still beyond proud of our racers, and how they navigated these obstacles with grace and professionalism. We would also like to thank family, friends, and especially the impeccable maintenance crew who gave it their all, and supported our War Eagle Women throughout this difficult process.

We look forward to hosting the 2027 Air Race Classic in Auburn next summer.

The countdown is officially ON! ✈️

In just under a week, the War Eagle Women will start their engines in this year's Air Race Classic. From June 23rd - 26th, they will fly approximately 2,400 statute miles and show the skies what they can do!

After years of leadership, mentorship, and dedication to shaping the next generation of aviators, Wayne “Chief” Ceynowa is officially retiring as Chief Flight Instructor. ✈️

Chief’s passion for aviation left a lasting impact on countless students, instructors, and colleagues. His legacy will continue to fly high through every pilot.

Please join us in thanking Chief for his years of service and wishing him blue skies and tailwinds in retirement!

After sixteen incredible years, Wayne Ceynowa, otherwise known as Chief, is officially retiring. He has left an undeniable legacy on our program and shaped the careers of countless aviators. Let’s give him the send-off he deserves!
