Taking a moment to recognize our incredible interns, who build and support a suite of applications our department relies on every day.

At yesterday's year-end Intern Product Review, they shared their work and fielded questions with a level of professionalism that reflected the impact they've had throughout the year.

Among other things, they advanced our ongoing Node.js migration efforts, implemented new features, prepared new applications for deployment, and helped shape hosting and architectural decisions that will guide future development.

The technical accomplishments were impressive, but what stood out most was seeing the students behind the work. These are real applications serving real users, and the care and responsibility our interns brought to that work was evident in their presentations.

In a time when AI can generate code in seconds, the ability to understand requirements, collaborate with stakeholders, make sound technical decisions, and deliver reliable software remains just as important. We couldn't be prouder of what they accomplished.

A recent Gallup and Lumina Foundation survey found that college graduates, more than anything else, wish they had received more career coaching and mentoring.

That's exactly why both are embedded into our BAS Software Development program here at Green River College. Career support is a big part of the student experience from the beginning, not just a rescue service at the end.

In partnership with Mentors in Tech (MinT), all of our BAS students have the opportunity to pair with tech industry mentors for structured coaching and mentoring throughout their degree program, from day 1 through graduation.

For community college baccalaureate students navigating a competitive, AI-driven job market, the guidance and perspective mentors provide can make all the difference.

We're incredibly proud to offer MinT support at no extra cost to our students, and grateful for the mentors, faculty, alumni, and program partners helping make it happen.

Go Gators!
