There are two Augusta University libraries, Reese Library on the Summerville campus and Greenblatt Library on the Health Sciences campus. The Augusta University Libraries provide books, ebooks, government publications, journals, audiovisuals, databases, historical collections, and more, in support of student and faculty research. The Libraries provide research assistance in person and electronically and also provide tours and instruction classes for undergraduate, graduate and professional students. Students can request appointments with librarians, including specialized medical reference librarians, for more in-depth research needs. Thousands of research journals are available electronically – in person and remotely - through research databases held in GALILEO and elsewhere, with many available full text.

Mission: The Libraries lead the enterprise in providing comprehensive information resources and services in support of the teaching, discovery, and clinical care mission of our student‐centered research university and academic medical center.

To kick off #quarantinecompanions this week, meet the Terral Squad! Shannon Terral, Medical Library Associate at Greenblatt, kindly took on five kittens from a stray mama, called Boots, in her subdivision. The eldest, Alpha, passed away in 2009, but the rest are around and well! Meet:

* Smudge, "a loving, gentle giant that his younger siblings love to snuggle with."
* Peanut, who "can charm anyone into doing whatever he desires."
* Stripe, who "didn't have a lot of time for snuggling, but she has since mellowed and loves to get and give head bonks and lots of love"; and
* Inky, "a super sweet girl that can get into and out of the tightest of spaces."

Do you think this is one impressive squad?! Hit like! The team member who scores the most likes across our social channels wins bragging rights for the best companion (or few!)

On #QuarantineCompanions this Friday night meet Bowser, friendly canine friend of Renee Sharrock, Curator of Historical Collections & Archives at Greenblatt Library.

"Bowser is a rescue dog from Molly's Militia. He is very sweet and loves to be cuddled, even though he's larger than a lap dog. Bowser also enjoys meeting new people, especially if they scratch his ears or give him a treat. This photo was taken on our first visit to the veterinarian," says Renee.

Think Bowser is just as sweet as we do? Hit like! The team member who has the most likes across our social wins bragging rights for the best companion!

Next up on #QuarantineCompanions is Broch, a shelter rescue Gail Kouame, Assistant Director for Research and Education Services at Greenblatt Library, adopted back in 2016. He is an American Bulldog/Lab mix, easily mistaken for a pit bull. This beautiful photo was taken for a calendar that was sold as a fundraiser for Team Stinkykiss Animal Shelter and the Crosby-Miller School of Dance in Aiken, SC.

Gail loves Broch, saying, "I had never owned a dog before but had been around a lot of friends' dogs. He has his "personality quirks," but he has been a joy to have in my home!"

Think Broch is just loveable? Hit like! The team member who scores the most likes across our social wins bragging rights for the best companion!

Our final e-cookbook challenge is the ultimate #ComfortFood and is brought to you by Josette Kubicki, Reference and Instruction Librarian at Reese Library. It's Chicken Soup from Peace of Cake by Jenny Carr:
.
"Prior to this eCookbook challenge, my go-to chicken noodle soup was out of a carton! This recipe is a more wholesome, healthier version than your convenience food varieties and so much more delicious! And, as the author suggests, you can freeze it to reheat later, giving you the convenience food benefit for busier nights. If you do reheat, I recommend heating bone broth separately and then pour into it, as it tastes so good that way!"

We had so much fun doing our e-cookbook challenge for #VirtualFinalsFrenzy, that we have a few now that finals are over. We hope you'll forgive us for the excess of tasty food. Today, we hope to add some kick to your post-finals relax with Jerk Chicken Sticks cooked by Tina Kenyon, Library Assistant, Reese Library:
.
"This was a challenging recipe for me, as I do not cook a lot. I think this would be better cooked on a grill rather than baked the way the recipe states. The flavor was great. The jalapeno adds just a little kick without being overpowering. I had to cook mine a little longer because I bought these huge skewers and my chicken was a little small. It is a great recipe and I will definitely make it again!"

Calling all chocoholic Jags! If you're relieved to be done with finals, celebrate with these brownies made for our e-cookbook challenge by Gail Kouame, Assistant Director for Research and Education Services, Greenblatt Library!
.
"If you are a fan of chocolatey cakey brownies, you will love these! The recipe calls for a few items you may not just happen to have on hand, like turbninado sugar and whole wheat pastry flour (I used whole wheat flour and sifted it). It also has a lot of steps, like toasting the nuts and cutting butter into ½-inch cubes. In the end, it’s worth the effort because they are hearty and flavorful. The recipe even comes with a warning at the end: 'These brownies are really good, so control yourself and eat only a little at a time.'"
.
We're winding down our #VirtualFinalsFrenzy, but stay posted next week for some more fun content on our channels. Our guide will be available all year round and has lots of strategies to get through quarantine with less stress. Check it out: https://buff.ly/2ytFPWF

To-may-to, To-mah-to. No matter how you say it, tomato lovers will swoon over this pie baked by Maranda Christy, Special Collections Library Assistant, Reese Library:
.
"This is what I like about this tomato pie recipe: it’s very adaptable according to what kinds of ingredients a person has on hand. For instance, I only had one large tomato (instead of the three the recipe calls for) so I substituted some red & yellow peppers I had in the refrigerator. So really, it’s a tomato & pepper pie! I used a pre-made pie crust instead of a homemade one (as I did not have any cottage cheese available) & a mixture of mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese, in place of Swiss cheese. This tomato pie is a good option for vegetarians or even those meat-eaters who just want a veggie meal for a change. It is delicious!'

We think French Toast works for breakfast, lunch, AND, dinner. Especially this homemade Beer Bread French Toast breakfast from Clinical Information Librarian (Greenblatt Library) Jacob Gallay:
.
"I chose this recipe because it required baking bread. I’ve made some instant breads from packaging before, but I’ve never had to create dough from scratch, proof it, punch it, let it sit, etc. The stores were out of instant yeast, so I had to call in for some outside help on how to use dry active yeast instead. We activated the years using the beer that went into the recipe, and the bread came out looking wonderful. The next morning, we sliced it up and made the rest of the French toast batter and beer-syrup. I’m not lying when I say that this was the best French toast I had ever tasted! I was surprised at how easy it was to create and thankfully there were plenty of leftovers."

Hola! Feliz Cinco de Mayo! You and your tummy can celebrate at home with this delicious Chilaquiles recipe cooked by Ali Gomez, Access Services Librarian, Greenblatt Library:
.
"This dish is a spicy, filling delight! It’s easy to improvise too if you can’t get all the ingredients. My version skipped the radishes and added some improvised refried black beans. They’re sure to mess up your kitchen, requiring a bunch of pots and pans. But I really don’t have much else to do but clean anyway, and they are so worth it!"

Get ready for Cinco de Mayo with this delicious salsa that was prepared for our e-cookbook challenge by Bettina Askew, Medical Library Associate, Greenblatt Library!
.
"Since I’ve been quarantining, my fridge hasn’t had as much fresh food in it as usual. I’ve been craving some fresh salsa and I thought it would be worth a quick grocery trip. The Grit (located in Athens, GA) is a favorite restaurant of mine so I was excited when I saw we have the cookbook. The recipe turned out really well, it was super tasty! I accidentally went a little crazy with the onions, but luckily no one has to smell my breath since we’re social distancing."

Today, our e-cookbook challenge entry is focused on the most important meal of the day: breakfast! Enhance your study time with these beautiful strawberry crepes re-created by Sandra Bandy, Assistant Director for Content Management at Greenblatt Library:

With a little more practice, this recipe was quick and easy. Friends and family would enjoy this for a dessert or a morning breakfast."
