To Succeed in Its Cybersecurity Mission, the Defense Department Must Partner With Academia (For Real)

“...we can’t be successful in executing our mission against any of our adversaries if we are not working very closely with our interagency partners, with our friends and allies around the globe, with industry and academia, etc.” http://ow.ly/pVNJ50BrjJh

While the Defense Department often lists academia as part of important partnerships, this relationship is always the coda in the partnership list. The department needs its own cyber academic engagement strategy.

ICYMI - Army Cyber Command officially dedicated it’s new headquarters in a special ceremony on September 3.

The facility will be known as “Fortitude Hall”, named after World War II’s OPERATION FORTITUDE. This specific operation was a crucial piece of the plans to mislead Hitler about the Allies’ intentions to invade Normandy.

“The word ‘fortitude’ is defined as mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity, or danger courageously. The work of the scientists, code-breakers, and others who came before us took real fortitude. And today, our warfighters and Army civilians operating, defending, attacking and influencing the information environment in defense of the nation routinely demonstrate fortitude.” - ARCYBER commander, Lt. Gen. Stephen G. Fogarty.

We are thrilled to welcome Cyber Command to our growing cyber community here in Augusta! Check out more about this facility:

What’s to blame for the recent rise in child cybercrime?

More children at home online means more chances for cyber criminals to engage with them. Educate your children that if something happens, or someone approaches them online, to let a parent know. #BeCyberSmart

With kids spending more time at home, online, and unsupervised, the pandemic could be the reason officials are seeing a rise in child-related cybercrime.
