Climate & Health Research Summit, sustainability in health care discussions, and an interactive En-ROADS climate simulation workshop.

Public Health Day featuring sessions on wildfire preparedness, community engagement, climate policy, advocacy, and innovation.

This week, the Colorado School of Public Health welcomed public health leaders and community partners from across Colorado's rural and rural resort communities for our first Rural Public Health Roundtable.

Together, we discussed some of the biggest challenges facing rural Colorado today, including:

• Workforce shortages
• Limited public health funding
• Access to healthcare providers and services
• Rising healthcare and insurance costs

The conversation reinforced the importance of collaboration, community engagement, and listening to those working at the forefront of public health every day.

ColoradoSPH is proud to be part of the effort to strengthen Colorado's public health workforce and support research and partnerships that improve health outcomes in every corner of our state.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and shared their perspectives. We were honored to listen, learn, and begin building momentum for future conversations and action.

A new $4.6 million NIH award is supporting a multi-university collaboration focused on improving women's health through advanced computational modeling and precision medicine.

Researchers will develop data-driven tools to better understand how hormonal changes throughout a woman's lifespan influence the way medications work, with the goal of improving treatment effectiveness, reducing side effects, and advancing personalized care.

The collaboration includes investigators from the University of Colorado Anschutz, Michigan State University, Rutgers University, Emory University, Tulane University, the University of Michigan, and the University of Utah. Mary Sammel, PhD, from the Colorado School of Public Health, is among the researchers contributing to this NIH-funded initiative.

Today was the 2026 CU Innovation Day, in partnership with Colorado Startup Week! ColoradoSPH was proud to showcase how research, technology, and education are helping improve lives and communities.

Three of our departments and centers engaged attendees with interactive exhibits exploring:

🔥 Fire mitigation efforts across Colorado and their impact on community resilience

🥤 The surprising amount of sugar hidden in everyday beverages and what it means for public health
