Thank you to the Aurora Historical Society and the GAR Museum for inviting us to this event. We had the chance to open the time capsule from our old temple that was lost to the fire and apparently it dates back to the 1920s. Great community interest and support.

The Aurora GAR Memorial Hall and Museum and the Aurora Historical Society are excited to announce the unsealing of a time capsule that is over 100 years old! 📜

Join them on Saturday, August 22, from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. as they unveil the Masonic Temple Time Capsule, discovered just before the emergency demolition of the historic Lincoln Masonic Temple in 2019, following a devastating three-alarm fire. The time capsule is believed to date from 1921 to 1924, coinciding with the laying of the building’s cornerstone in 1921.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided for attendees. Admission to the event is free, but online registration is encouraged. Tickets can be reserved at www.aurora.il.us/TimeCapsule.

Let’s dive into history and see what treasures await us inside! 🔍
