Earlier this week, Upward Bound West followed the path to North Central College, where our students received a warm welcome from the Cardinal First Program and the Office of Student Engagement & Belonging!

After enjoying lunch on campus, students explored the beautiful gardens at Cantigny in Wheaton and learned about the U.S. Army’s role in World War I during a guided tour of the First Division Museum at Cantigny

❗ Due to the showers and thunderstorms that have hit Aurora throughout the weekend, the 2026 Fiestas Patrias Parade has been canceled.

The City of Aurora is still under a Flood Watch, per the National Weather Service, until 1 P.M. today. There remains the potential for localized flooding, including flooding of low-lying and poor drainage areas.

The City prioritizes the safety of all residents, and has come to this decision based on the heavy rainfall that has hit the area, along with the latest weather forecast, showing more rain and a continued risk of flooding.

If you see a flooded roadway, turn around, don't drown! Do not drive into flooded roadways, and be sure to slow down, use extra caution, and provide enough space between you and other drivers.

Stay safe this weekend, Aurora! ✅

Yesterday our Upward Bound EAHS students took advantage of the half day for a field trip! 🚌
They headed 30 minutes out to visit Benedictine University where they were able to check out campus and stop in their museum as well! ❤️❤️❤️
After the school visit, they made their way over to Morton Arboretum in Lisle! 🌱🍃
Always so great visiting new places.
