For nearly 100 years, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® has proudly served communities across Colorado through service, scholarship, leadership, and sisterhood. Now, we have the opportunity to celebrate that legacy with a commemorative Colorado license plate—but we need your help!

If you are a Colorado resident, 18 years or older, and a registered vehicle owner, please take a moment to sign the petition. Every signature brings us one step closer to honoring the impact of Alpha Kappa Alpha across our state.

Today was a good day for Mu Omega Omega Chapter!

We are proud to be part of the “Proclaiming Colorado’s Black History” exhibit at the Aurora History Museum—an exhibit that recognizes the contributions of Mu Omega Omega Chapter and the impact of our service throughout the Aurora community.

Today’s opening reception was a meaningful opportunity to celebrate our history, honor the women who helped build our chapter’s legacy, and reflect on the work that continues today.

The celebration isn’t over! Join us August 27 for a special community reception and panel discussion as we continue sharing the stories, service and sisterhood that have shaped our presence in Aurora. Stay tuned for more details.

Economic empowerment is more than an initiative. It’s a commitment we take seriously. Through June Black Dollar Days, our annual Black Business Holiday Marketplace, and intentional year-round support for Black-owned businesses, Mu Omega Omega Chapter is helping to strengthen our local economy.

This June alone, chapter members spent more than $25,000 to support Black-owned businesses. Over the past three years, our collective chapter investment has exceeded $108,000, demonstrating the power of our dollars to fuel small businesses.

Every dollar spent is an investment in entrepreneurship, dreams, opportunity, and community growth. That’s the power of wearing our pink and intentionally spending our green to support Black-owned businesses and build economic wealth.

We don’t just wear green—we practice it! Over the last two years, MOO members have planted 31 trees, recycled 511 pounds of electronics, and safely recycled 5,000 pounds of paper, helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 712 pounds.

Members embraced environmentally conscious habits by planting flowers and gardens, reducing household waste, and incorporating more meatless meals into their lifestyles. We also partnered with elders and local youth to encourage environmental awareness.

Every tree planted, every item recycled, and every lesson shared leads our community down a healthier, more sustainable path that we are proud of.

This week, members of Mu Omega Omega Chapter joined students from Aurora Public Schools’ summer program at the ABC Collective Community Garden for an afternoon of planting, learning, and community building. Together, we planted seeds that will continue to grow throughout the summer before finding a permanent home in the garden this fall.

The day was about more than gardening. It was an opportunity to encourage environmental responsibility, connect with local youth, and invest in a project that will benefit the community for seasons to come.

Small actions can make a lasting difference, and we’re proud to help create a greener, healthier future—one seed at a time.

Today, members of Mu Omega Omega Chapter partnered with the Credit Union of Colorado and Waste Management to host a community shredding event, providing residents with a safe, secure way to dispose of sensitive documents while supporting a cleaner, greener community.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and helped protect personal information and the environment. Together, we’re enhancing our environment through service and sustainability—one document at a time.
