Led by Ambassador (ret.) Larry André, the program combines internships, coursework, and immersive cultural experiences, including living with Senegalese host families.

To kick off their summer, the students visited the U.S. Embassy in Dakar, getting a firsthand look at how an embassy operates and what a career in public service abroad actually looks like.

Follow along as we share more from their summer in Senegal! 🌍

Kicking off summer break in Washington, D.C.! 🤘🏛️

On his first-ever visit to the nation's capital, Alex Mathew (MPAff '27) gained firsthand insight into how advocacy shapes federal policymaking with The Patman Center.

From meetings on Capitol Hill to monument tours, the week gave Alex a deeper appreciation for the people and collaboration it takes to create policy change.

LBJ students took on D.C. for The Patman Center for Civic and Political Engagement's May-Term course! 🇺🇸

Over five packed days, they strengthened their advocacy skills through conversations with policy leaders, site visits, and hands-on learning opportunities. From Capitol Hill to leading think tanks and advocacy organizations, they got a firsthand look at the federal policymaking process in action.

And of course, no trip to our nation’s capital would be complete without visiting the iconic monuments and soaking in all the history. 🏛️
