Texas Sweethearts 2014 Best Student Organization - Longhorn Center for Civic Engagement
2012 Best Student Organization

The Texas Sweethearts are active members of both the University and the community. Our members volunteer weekly at The BeHive, an after-school program in low-income areas of Austin, as well as work weekly with Feed My People to help feed the homeless. Some of our other service events include Explore UT, Easter Seals Fall Fiesta, Longhorn Halloween, Austin Gorilla Run, Relay for Life and Dream Date

. Sweethearts also hosts our own football, basketball, and baseball tailgates and participate in IM sports throughout the semester. Additionally, we strive to build strong, lifelong friendships among our members through our various social events such as an OU weekend trip to Dallas, Parents Weekend, Winter Formal, Crush, Senior Call Boat Party, Date Skate, Spring Cocktail and Alumni Weekend. We also strongly value the importance of sisterhood among the members of our organization.

-We are honored to receive the Swing Out Award for 2010-2011 Best Social Organization by the University of Texas Leadership & Ethics Institute and to be named the 2012 UT Most Best Student Organization by The Daily Texan! “Hiiii hiii recruits! I can’t wait to meet everyone throughout this recruitment session! 😊🫶🏻
My biggest piece of advice is to try to meet as many people as you can throughout the process, whether it’s actives or fellow recruits! Every active you meet will give you a new perspective on Sweethearts, and anyone you meet could be your future BFF 🤗 The amazing people I met through recruitment are now some of my closest friends, and I can’t wait to see the friendships you guys will form over the next few weeks!”

“Hi everyonee!! Happy recruiting!! 💕 As a Fall ’24 Sweetheart, I’m sooo excited for all of the new recruits about to go through this process!! I know recruitment can feel a little intimidating at first, but it’s also such a fun way to meet so many amazing girls who have similar interests and hobbies as you.

My biggest advice is to talk to everyone you meet, whether it’s another recruit or a Sweetheart!! You seriously never know who you’re going to click with or who might end up becoming one of your best friends 💗 Don’t feel like every conversation has to be perfect either, just be yourself, find the little things you have in common, and have fun with it!!

Recruitment goes by sooo fast, so enjoy every event and put yourself out there!! I can’t wait to meet all of you and see everyone throughout recruitment 🫶🏼💌”

“Happy recruitment season!! My best piece of advice is to be your most authentic self as actives want to get to know the real you! Every meaningful conversation will also help you understand the vibe and energy of the organization! I still remember going to my first info session and instantly falling in love with Sweethearts after talking to actives! I’m so grateful to say this org has given me a community of incredible girls and I couldn’t imagine my college experience without Sweethearts! Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there!”
