Future ophthalmologists in action 👁️✨

Last night’s Ophthalmology Interest Group Skills Workshop was all about hands-on learning and leveling up clinical skills. Students rolled up their sleeves to practice slit lamp exams, sharpen their neuro-ophthalmology exam techniques, and master the art of checking intraocular pressure.

It’s always inspiring to see this level of curiosity, focus, and enthusiasm for patient care—these are the moments that build confident, skilled clinicians.

From podium to practice 💡

Our faculty and staff brought the energy to this year’s TSEPS and IJCAHPO annual meetings, proudly co-sponsored by our department and hosted at Dell Medical School at UT Austin.

From insightful presentations to meaningful collaboration, we’re incredibly proud of our team for sharing their expertise and pushing the field forward. Shoutout to Drs. Eric Crowell, Amy Durand, Jane Edmond, and Saleema Kherani-Ali, along with our amazing practice manager Matt Marrero, for representing us so well.

Grateful for a community that shows up, shares knowledge, and keeps raising the bar. 🤘

Kicking off our inaugural Legends in Ophthalmology event with an incredible lecture by Dr. Neil Miller on Ischemic Optic Neuropathies: Classification, Diagnosis & Treatment.

Faculty, residents, and guests gained invaluable insights from one of the true legends in the field. And in true Austin fashion, attendees bravely navigated SXSW traffic to make it there — proof that great learning is worth the journey. 🚗🎶

Thank you to everyone who joined us to launch this new series. A memorable start to what promises to be many inspiring conversations in ophthalmology. 👁️✨

The future of thyroid eye disease management is being shaped by data.

We were privileged to host Julian Perry, MD, for a comprehensive and forward-looking lecture: “From Hype to Hard Data: Managing Thyroid Eye Disease in 2026.”

An excellent turnout and a lively discussion highlighted the importance of evidence-driven care in orbital disease.

Thank you to everyone who joined us.
