One of your Spring 2014 classmates in the Youth and Community Studies program has been accepted as an IE Pre Grad Intern! Congratulations Lorena Watson!!

Congratulations to spring 2014 IE Pre Grad intern Lorena Watson, the first in her family to attend college, who has been admitted to and will enroll in UT’s Educational Psychology (Counselor Education) graduate program next fall. She joins over one dozen spring 2014 IE students who have been recruited to UT graduate programs. Says Lorena:

“IE offered me the opportunity to really explore graduate options and ask questions about academics and lifestyles of someone who is experiencing graduate school now. Much of the information offered by admissions offices and websites were put into practical terms by my mentor who gave me insight into what programs would fit my career goals best. The mission of UT’s Counselor Education program aligns perfectly with my belief in the social and emotional well-being of our students affecting their academic progress. My IE mentor was very instrumental in helping me envision how my career as a school counselor will affect my future. Although I am only officially connected to my mentor for this semester of the IE program, I know that we've created a lifelong partnership with the mission of improving the public education system through our skills, networks, and roles within the system. IE is truly a great program for driven students to dedicate time to explore their academic goals without compromising our current responsibilities as undergraduates. By allowing us to earn credit for doing something we would otherwise be doing on our own, we can make better and more informed decisions for our futures.”
