UT Elementary School in East Austin is partnering with the UT Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk and research professor Elizabeth Swanson to improve reading outcomes among emergent bilingual students. Through Computer-Assisted Collaborative Strategic Reading, students who share a home language work together using an online platform to strengthen reading comprehension skills.

Through internships at colleges and universities across the country, students in the Program in Higher Education Leadership and Policy are stepping into leadership roles that give them firsthand experience in student affairs, campus programming, residential life and orientation initiatives.

UT Public Schools Convocation 2026!

On Thursday, Aug. 6, over 300 teachers and staff from UT Elementary School, UT University Charter School, and UT High School came together at the College of Education for our annual Convocation. It was a day to celebrate our schools, learn from one another, and grow together under this year's theme: Roadmap to Success.

We were honored to welcome author Stephanie Malia Krauss as our guest speaker, presenting on her new book, "How We Thrive: Caring for Kids and Ourselves in a Changing World." We were also joined by Dean Designee Hamlin, as well as COE leadership and faculty members Victor Saenz, Celeste Alexander, and Laura Estep.

As Debra Cantú, executive director of UT Public Schools, put it: "Change happens each year when our teachers impact the lives of our students, when our leaders align around a shared vision, and when our families feel truly supported by our faculty and staff."

Here's to a fantastic, fun, and innovative year ahead. Hook 'Em!
