Thank you to Dollar General Literacy Foundation (DGLF) for our 2026 adult literacy grant! The funding received will support South Florida State College Adult Education.

Each year, DGLF awards funds to nonprofit organizations, schools, and libraries within a 15-mile radius of a Dollar General store or distribution center to support adult, family, summer, and youth literacy programs. The Foundation also offers a student referral program for individuals interested in learning how to read, speak English, or prepare for the high school equivalency exam.

We’re thrilled 🎉 to be inducting 14 exceptional students from across our GED® Prep and ESOL programs into the National Adult Education Honor Society (NAEHS) this evening at 6 p.m. at the University Center on the Highlands Campus in Avon Park, Fla.!

This special ceremony celebrates the hard work, perseverance, and achievements of our Adult Education students who have gone above and beyond in their academic journeys. We are so proud of each of our inductees…your dedication is inspiring! 💙📚

We are incredibly grateful to the Dollar General Literacy Foundation for awarding South Florida State College Adult Education a 2026 Adult Literacy Grant!

This funding will help us continue providing life-changing educational opportunities for adult learners throughout our communities, including GED® preparation, English language learning, workforce readiness, and pathways to postsecondary education and employment.

Every day, we witness the determination and resilience of our students as they work toward brighter futures. Support from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation helps make those opportunities possible.

As a single mama of three kiddos, Sarah pushed hard through the GED® Prep program with determination and heart. With the guidance and encouragement of her instructor, Ms. Wells, Sarah successfully achieved this incredible milestone and is now looking ahead toward a future career in education within the Hardee County K-12 system. 🍎📚✨

What a fantastic week it’s been at SFSC Adult Education! 💙🌟🧡

Yesterday, we had an engaging Program Spotlight featuring our SFSC Dental programs with Program Director, Ms. Sherry McGrath. During the Program Spotlight, students had the opportunity to explore exciting career pathways in dentistry, and they also learned about the SFSC Dental Clinic and opportunities to become clients of SFSC Dental students! 💯🦷

We’re also proud to share that ESOL Program Specialist, Ms. JoAnn Pacheco, and Career Pathways Coach, Ms. Kelly Purvis represented SFSC Adult Education at the ipdae Integrated Education and Training (IET) Conference hosted by our sister institution, Indian River State College.

During the conference, best practices were shared to strengthen job readiness skills, support student success, and enhance workforce pathways for adult learners. We are grateful to Indian River State College for bringing adult educators together for such a meaningful and impactful experience.
