Just a few days ago, this is what it looked like in Vail. I was showing homes in Vail, today and the leaves are falling fast. It is an amazingly beautiful fall, but it will fade quickly. Once the leaves are gone I am ready for snow…we live in a gorgeous Valley, but late fall, isn’t my time of year. I’m ready for the first snow fall as soon as the leaves go…the world always seems renewed with fresh snow.

I read a beautiful quote by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. today…”Truth crushed to earth will rise again”. What a hopeful thought! Life continually renews itself. “Hello, October”

NAR Legislative Meetings (aka Mid-Year Legislative Meetings)

I have had the great good fortune for the past 20 + years to go to Washington, DC to lobby on behalf of Vail Board of REALTORS, Colorado Association of REALTORS and the National Association of REALTORS. We usually are there in May, but this year, we were there the first week of June. It was a warm week, climbing to 88 degrees.

The BIG News is that real estate seems to be faring well in the Legislative Bill named “The Big Beautiful Bill”. If it makes it through the Senate, we will have the good fortune to retain the 1031 Exchange, Mortgage Interest Deduction at $750,000 (sorry the $1,000,000 MID is still history), and increase in SALT (state and local tax)deduction, enhanced small business tax deduction, and the current lower individual tax rates will become permanent and increases in the child tax credit. Stand by to see the outcome in the Senate.

These moves could help increase homeownership access for more Americans. NAR Executive Vice President and Chief Advocacy Officer Shannon McGahn cautions this is “just the first draft”.

While we have tempered excitement about the tax priorities, we did have great conversations with HD 2, Congressman Joe Neguse, Senators Bennet and Hickenlooper. They continue to work hard for the Citizens and State of CO. Thank you Senators and Congressman!

RPAC Hall of Fame Ceremony 2025

My beautiful friend, Michelle Doherty, from Virginia, was installed into the RPAC Hall of Fame 2025. She is obviously a beautiful woman, but it is her character, personality, and spirt which is most beautiful. She has endured loss, heartbreak, but also has a lovely family, two daughters, one which is heavenly and the other alive and racing into life, as well as a handsome husband. She loves our business and career of real estate. She obviously loves her family, clients, neighborhood and country.

I only know her from Instagram, running into one another at NAR Meetings, and a few phone conversations. She makes me look at our profession and see how she does it better. I thank her for her time, talent and treasure. She was a NAR 30 under 30 and has continued to carry the water. In a very few years, she has entered the RPAC Hall of Fame at the $25,000 level. That is hard earned but generously given. I was so happy to be there to see her walk the stage…HAPPY LIFE .

Thank you, love…Amy

“Never was so much owed by so many to so few”
Winston Churchill

My parents were children during World War II, but it affected them for their entire life. There never was a Memorial Day that they did not decorate the graves of soldiers who gave their lives in the Wars the United States fought. My grandmother would have called them good citizens. Today, it is old fashioned to say, but they were patriotic. My father was drafted right after college into the Korean War. I still remember his slide shows that I watched seeing a very young handsome soldier with a typewriter. How he got a typewriter to South Korea I will never know. He is gone and I forgot to ask him about that. So many questions left unanswered.

My husband was at the tale end of the Vietnam War and instead of being drafted he volunteered for the Air Force. I still look at pictures of that young handsome man boy from Arkansas. The four years in the Air Force changed his life.

I miss the holidays when I could call my parents and ask what they did. They probably put flags on the graves in Fort Logan, went to a parade, and my mother cooked a lovely meal for friends and my sister and her family.

Call your parents, your siblings, hug your family and dogs…it goes quickly. To All of you who Served, thank you for your courage, selflessness, and time.

We remember…
