In the high-stakes arena of political strategy, APU alumnus Justin Kemp ’16 knows that turning big ideas into winning campaign strategies takes precision. As a political consultant and co-founder of Evergreen Data Strategies and Frontline Strategies, Justin has pioneered data-driven digital campaigns, earning a spot on AAPC’s 40 Under 40 list as one of the nation's top strategists.

“When you have people who work for you, they look to you as a leader,” Justin said. “I want my standard of leadership to align with the teachings of Christ. I want to be someone that my clients and my employees feel safe talking to—trying to be a light and share the love that Christ talks about.”

For honors humanities and cinematic arts double major Ben Doerksen ’27, coming to APU was about pursuing his passion for film—but his journey quickly evolved into something much bigger. From co-directing student movies on campus to serving abroad on Global Engagement trips, Ben has discovered how art, philosophy, and authentic community can transform a life of faith.

“I came into college with the intention of getting a film degree, and through honors and the experiences I've had at APU, I'm walking away with a lot more than that,” Ben said. “Even if the film industry isn't where God leads me, I know I'm equipped to succeed because of my time at APU.”

Pursuing her MS in Child Life at APU, Sequoia Grantham ’26 is dedicated to bringing compassion, comfort, and hope to pediatric care. Guided by a calling to show her faith through action, she is preparing to walk alongside children and families during some of their most difficult medical moments.

“What I’m most excited about is to be the light,” Sequoia said. “In rooms that feel heavy, I want to let people know to take a deep breath and know that someone is here to walk alongside them.”

From leading middle school ensembles to earning the California League of Middle Schools State Educator of the Year award, Jessie Bullock ’08 is using music to build community, teach kindness, and inspire the next generation. Drawing on the foundation of faith, mentorship, and community he built at APU, he now manages band, orchestra, choir, and ASB while guiding young students from their very first notes to graduation.

“I am so blessed to be in these kids’ lives, and have fun with creating every day,” Jessie said. “From band, to orchestra, and ASB, I get to create an environment where students are proud of the work they’ve done.”
