The Instrumental Studies program within the School of Music at Azusa Pacific University provides performance learning opportunities in Symphonic, Jazz, and Chamber group settings. These settings provide the framework for experiences that development musicianship capable of meeting the diverse opportunities found in the 21st century musical landscape. is here and we are raising money for a recording project where our Wind Ensemble could record the composition and piece by Dr. Robert Gillam. The energetic, majestic and optimistic composition is entitled "Rise Up: A Spirit of Renewal." With the funds, the Director will be able to hire recording professionals with national prestige to record the composition with the students of the APU Wind Ensemble in the Fall of 2021. The Symphony Orchestra and Masterworks Chorale combine forces in their final performance of the year. They perform Mozart's beautiful Ave Verum Corpus and Dvorak's powerful Te Deum. Also included is a rare performance of Arvo Part's Medieval-inspired Third Symphony. Christopher Russell and John Simons conduct.

This Saturday, April 7th at 7:30pm join the APU Wind Ensemble in their final performance of the year with Orange Lutheran High School at Bonita Center for the Arts:
Under conductor Dr. John Burdett, the APU Wind Ensemble premieres Concerto for Bass Trombone and Tuba set for wind band by the composer, Ross Wright. This bombastic and reflective work features the virtuosic ability of faculty soloists John Van Houten and Rich Bullock. Also on the program is the premiere of Ex Luna Scientia--winner of the JWPepper/APU Composition Contest, Scapino: A Comedic Overture, Huebler Horn Concerto and a joint performance with members of the Orange Lutheran High School Instrumental Music department conducted by alumni Aaron Zelinger.

Azusa Pacific University & Citrus College make that very thing happen with the 14th annual Battle of the Big Bands.
