📢 IMPORTANT REMINDER, RENEGADES‼️

Help us keep the library a productive space for everyone! Whether you’re cramming for exams or catching up on reading, please remember:

🤫 Use whisper voices in the library. This means you CAN talk, but it's important that your voice level does not disturb others around you because it is likely they are trying to study and focus.

🎧 Use headphones for all audio (music, lectures, videos) and phone calls should be taken outside of the library. 📲

👥 Working in a group? Book one of our Group Study Rooms! They’re the best place to collaborate and brainstorm without worrying about noise. 🔊

Respect the quiet zone so everyone can get in the zone. Thanks for keeping our shared space study-friendly! 📚✨

According to American Library Association, in 2025, 92% of all book challenges were initiated by pressure groups, government officials, and decision makers, up from 72% the previous year. Less than 3% of challenges stemmed from individual parents.

The most common justification for censorship from complaints were false claims of illegal obscenity for minors; inclusion of LGBTQIA+ characters or themes; and covering topics of race, racism, equity, and social justice.

Banned Books Week is an opportunity to inform communities about the escalation in censorship and the importance of the right to read.

Swipe to see the some of our current displays of banned/challenged books available at our Arvin + BCSW campus libraries!

Did your professors mention that their textbooks are "on reserve" at the library?? 🤔

Course reserves are books that professors bring to the library for students to check out for up to 2 hours at a time. ⏱️ These books must stay inside the library, but students are able to take photos and make copies of any pages. 📖

Visit the circulation desk at any one of our campus libraries to check out course reserves! 🏫
