Destination Crenshaw is a community planning project to protect and preserve and celebrate Black LA culture. It’s physically located on a 1.3-mile stretch of Crenshaw Blvd. The presentation prompted questions on what is culture and how to pull together art, economic development, theatre, gardens, murals, food, African heritage, and community engagement. What an inspiring and engaging afternoon! Thank you to Mr. Drake Dillard for his time and leadership.

Olive, Naziha, and Jenisis - who went to Ghana July 2026 - shared some of their experiences with an appreciative audience of students and Black faculty and staff. While we are still processing the trip, we made comparisons between being Black in Ghana and being Black in America and between indigenous natural health remedies and Western health medicines. The travelers also encouraged students in the audience to apply for the Umoja Community fellowship for 2027!

Hear about our trip to Ghana July 2026! Plus applications are open for Ghana 2027! Let’s plan to craft a winning packet!...
