The fourth spring session of the MD PDS Conference Webinar Series will be held on Wednesday, April 28th from 4:00-6:00pm EST.

The focus of this session is a celebration of teacher candidate reflective inquiry projects. We will wrap up our year of exciting events with a message from Dr. Salmon, Maryland State Superintendent of Schools, recognitions, and awards. The Loyola Virtual Conversation Series is a forum for educators facilitated by Loyola Teacher Education faculty, Laura Alpaugh, and Loyola Teacher Ed. alum and BCPSS educator, Vaishali Bhatia.
The purpose of each session is to engage in conversation focused on issues that impact the teaching profession. Any and all who have an interest in the topics are welcome to participate. No need to attend all sessions.

We will meet regularly, vary the topics and provide a shared leadership structure that allows participants to lead discussion on topics of interest and promote collaborative conversations. Please provide a direct message to the Loyola TED page if there is a topic that you would like to feature and/or lead within this conversation series.

***This upcoming session will be facilitated by Adrianna Caton, M.A '16, alum and teacher at the Science and Math Institute-Tacoma Public Schools.

Partnership Showcase Description 5:

Bowie State University will showcase the Whitehall Elementary PDS partnership.

Inquiry groups where mentors, interns, and staff members read professional books and have collaborative discussions.

Teachers facilitate and attend the Teach, Coach, Reflect and Advanced, Teach, Coach, Reflect mentoring workshops for current and future mentor teachers.

Several of our teachers are adjunct professors for Bowie State or have been adjunct professors.

Elementary methods courses on site at Whitehall including a reading clinic where the interns get to work with students to improve their reading.

Partnership Showcase Description 4: Towson University, Owings Mills Elementary, Woodbridge Elementary and Perry Hall High School.

Owings Mills ES—TU interns engaged in powerful conversations with the PDS liaison and site coordinator at Owings Mills ES as part of an equity book study. Interns read “Stamped Racism, Antiracism, and You” and discussed sections from the book using the Agreements, Conditions, and Compass from Courageous Conversations.

Woodbridge ES— The staff at Woodbridge ES were “all hands on deck” for our new COE TUtors initiative! Woodbridge staff jumped right in to connect their families with our COE TUtors initiative for our teaching candidates in field experiences.

Perry Hall HS— The PDS liaison held a speaker series with the principal, two assistant principals, and site coordinator at Perry Hall HS for secondary education teaching candidates in their field experience course. This unique opportunity allowed our teaching candidates to be involved with the PDS prior to their professional year and learn the culture of the school early in their program.
