Johns Hopkins Kessler Scholars Program

Johns Hopkins Kessler Scholars Program The Kessler Scholars program promotes the success of our students throughout their academic careers

The Kessler Scholars Program at Johns Hopkins University is dedicated to an intensive enrichment experience via academic and professional resources for high-achieving, service-minded students who are among the first in their family to attend college. The program invites students who intend to pursue majors in the humanities and social sciences to be part of a close-knit community of scholars that

engages in rich conversation, academic and professional opportunities, and peer, faculty, and alumni networks.

Unfortunately, today was our last day of Kessler Pre-Orientation 2026! Our lovely day in Baltimore with peer leaders Ahnyx and Krisna showed our scholars just how rich and vibrant Baltimore’s culture is. From exploring museums to mastering public transportation, our Kesslers got to experience some of the city’s golden spots while making memories along the way! To our lovely mentees: always remember that you have your Kessler family by your side, always looking out for you!

Today marked Day 2 of Kessler activities with hardworking peer leaders Irene and Arianna!!! They worked hard to ensure that our first-year Kessler Scholars gained insight into professional development opportunities, resources, and how to be successful at Johns Hopkins University through our amazing guest speakers. Our new Kessler Scholars heard from the Center for Social Concern, current Kessler Scholars, JUMP, and the Life Design Lab about opportunities and resources available to them at Hopkins and how to navigate this transition into university life.
Picture 2: Students learned about the JHU Center for Social Concern, famous for its red door and great opportunities to get involved in the community, from Luis the Deputy Director.
Picture 5: Kessler Scholars Danielle and Maria shared their perspectives on JHU life, Kessler life, and pursuing either a pre-med or pre-law track…or neither!
Picture 7: We then heard from JUMP Director Diedre about the benefits of being an active JUMP member and getting involved as a student wanting to pursue higher education in dental school, medical school, nursing school, and more.
Picture 10: Lastly, we heard from Rickie about upcoming Life Design Lab events and resources while playing interactive games to identify our personal skills, values, and superhero qualities!
Picture 13: We ended our day by taking a short walk around campus! 🪷

Our latest Profs & Pizza event with Prof. Dora Malech was a huge success!

In celebration of Poetry Month, our scholars gathered for an intimate evening of conversation and creativity, hearing directly from about her newest poetry collection, “trying × trying”

Profs & Pizza is our monthly series connecting scholars with JHU faculty doing inspiring, impactful work. Each event is designed to be an intimate, creative, and intellectually engaging space where ideas can be shared and curiosity can thrive.

Together, we build community by learning from one another, exploring new perspectives, and celebrating the passion and purpose that define the Kessler Scholars experience. We thank Dora for facilitating reflections and discussions with such genuine care!

See you in a couple of weeks at our Kessler Scholars EOY & Graduation Celebration! It’s going to be an AMAZING evening that you will not want to miss 🤩 (check the rsvp link in the bio and your emails!)
