Whether you’re just starting at CCBC or getting ready for your next step, your goals can take you further than you imagined. And if a bachelor’s degree is part of your plan, you don’t have to wait until your last semester to start thinking about transfer.

Ready to take your education to the next level?

Start planning early:

Talk with your Pathways Advisor about your academic and transfer goals.
Attend a Transfer Fair and meet representatives from four-year colleges and universities.
Research how your CCBC credits will apply toward your bachelor’s degree.
Explore Degrees to Succeed and other transfer opportunities.
Keep working toward completing your associate degree before you transfer.

🥒 It’s kind of a BIG DILL... your transfer plan shouldn’t wait until your last semester at CCBC!

Starting early gives you time to explore your options, understand how your credits will transfer, and make choices at CCBC that support your future bachelor’s degree.

Not sure where to begin? Start with these three steps:

🔹 Talk with your Pathway Advisor
Let your advisor know that you plan to transfer and discuss your career goals. Together, you can review/create your academic plan, discuss your goals, and make sure you’re staying on track to complete your associate degree.

🔹 Attend a Transfer Fair
Meet representatives from colleges and universities, ask questions about majors, admission requirements, scholarships, transfer credits, and campus life. Even if you’re not ready to apply yet, a transfer fair is a great place to start exploring your options.

The Fall 2026 semester starts Monday, and we’re getting ready to welcome our students to CCBC! 💙🧡

Use this weekend to get ready for a strong start:

📚 Check Brightspace and review your course information
📍 Confirm your campus, classroom locations, or online course access
Examples: C.HTEC Means Catonsville and the abbreviation for the building. D.MASH Means Dundalk Campus and the abbreviation for the building
E.AHUM Means Essex Campus and the abbreviation for the buidling
🎒 Gather what you need for your first day
⏰ Plan to arrive early and give yourself extra time
Check the start dates for your classes! Not all classes begin the week of August 31st! HINT: T/R means class meets on Tuesday and Thursday!
💙 Remember, you don’t have to have everything figured out on Day One

You made it to the final tip! Before the semester gets busy, take a few minutes to make sure these first-week essentials are covered:

📍 Find your classrooms so you know where you're going before class begins.
💻 Access Brightspace and make sure each of your courses appears.
📖 Open each syllabus and familiarize yourself with course expectations.
📅 Enter important assignments and deadlines into your calendar.
🎓 Access DegreeWorks to see how your courses apply toward your degree requirements.
👤 Identify your academic advisor and know how to connect when you have questions.
🏫 Locate campus resources you may need throughout the semester.

The first week of class is more than introductions. It’s your opportunity to get organized, learn what your professor expects, and make sure you’re ready for the semester ahead.

📍 Find your classroom before class so you know exactly where you’re going.
👋 Meet your professor and learn how they prefer students to communicate with them.
📖 Read your syllabus carefully. Pay attention to course policies, grading, required materials, important dates, and expectations.
💻 Access Brightspace and make sure you can find your course content and resources.
