We are currently welcoming applications for our 2025-26 SNF Agora Visiting Fellows cohort! This is a unique opportunity to join the institute community during the 2025-26 academic year to pursue projects that advance our mission to strengthen democracy through powerful civic engagement and informed, inclusive dialogue. For this cycle, our fellowship focus areas are (1) AI for public good and (2) modernizing civics education at the university level.

Humanities on the Hill: A Conversation with Professor Martha S. Jones

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Professor Martha S. Jones, a leading historian and Society of Black Alumni Presidential Professor at Johns Hopkins University’s SNF Agora Institute, discuss her groundbreaking book, Vanguard: How Black Women Overcame Barriers, Won the Vote, and Insisted on Equality for All. Dr. Jones will be joined by Nadia E. Brown, Professor of Government at Georgetown University, in a dynamic conversation exploring the critical roles Black women have played in the fight for equality.
Following the discussion, enjoy a Q&A, book signing, and reception.

Learn more about Dr. Jones’s work: A cultural-legal historian, she is renowned for her influential studies on Black Americans’ role in shaping U.S. constitutional meaning, authoring prize-winning books like Birthright Citizens and Vanguard.
