University of Baltimore School of Law (Official)

University of Baltimore School of Law (Official) The University of Baltimore School of Law is accredited by the American Bar Association and the Association of American Law Schools. Green Building Council. Rep.

The then-private University of Baltimore School of Law was founded in 1925, with the first class of 38 students receiving their diplomas in 1928. Created initially to serve the working population of the Baltimore area with a part-time evening program, the school added a full-time day division in 1969. In September 1970, the law school merged with Eastern College and its Mount Vernon School of Law.

On Jan. 1, 1975, the school became a public institution when the University of Baltimore joined the State of Maryland's system for public higher education. The law school's new home, the John and Frances Angelos Law Center, opened in April 2013. The 12-story facility, at the northeast corner of North Charles Street and West Mount Royal Avenue, houses all of the school's clinics, centers and classrooms and affords students multiple options for indoor and outdoor study. The building, designed by German architect Stefan Behnisch, was granted LEED Platinum status by the U.S. An alumni network of approximately 13,000 includes many prominent figures, such as Peter Angelos, owner of the Baltimore Orioles; Maryland's former first lady, the Hon. Catherine Curran O'Malley; Thomas Condon, considered the most powerful agent in professional football; and U.S. C.A. "Dutch" Ruppersberger III. Nearly one-third of Maryland's sitting judges are UB School of Law graduates.

Students stepped into clinical practice, earning the authority to represent real clients for the first time in their legal careers.

Through UBalt Law’s nationally ranked clinical program, students step into the role of advocate while still in law school, interviewing
clients, drafting pleadings, preparing applications, and appearing in court under faculty supervision.
