The Mexican American Student Association (MASA) celebrates Mexican heritage and culture at Hopkins. 💚🤍❤️

All are welcome regardless of their background. Throughout the school year, MASA expands students’ horizons within Hispanic culture through collaborative events, including a Día de los Mu***os celebration, a Posada/Nochebuena Navideña, and a Jaripeo event in the spring.

Through these events, MASA invites the Hopkins community to enjoy traditional foods, music, and ambience. Blue Jays can look forward to future academic events, including an opportunity to learn from and network with professionals from multiple fields, including medicine, dentistry, and law.

MASA is dedicated to building a strong relationship with the Hopkins community, sharing Mexican culture, and creating a welcoming space where Hispanic students can feel connected and at home.

"Being a member of the Direct Matriculation Program: Master’s in International Relations has been one of the best parts of my time at Hopkins, and I would choose it again with zero hesitation.

"The DMP is a unique program which naturally lends itself to being tight knit. My year has about 15 members, with six of us choosing to spend the first year of the master’s at the SAIS Europe campus in Bologna, " said Sofia G., ’27.

💡 In five years, earn a bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins and a master’s degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).

Curious about jewelry design, but have never tried it before? We have a class for that! 💎

Jewelry and Small Metals is a Hopkins course offered at Baltimore Jewelry Center, a community arts education space in Baltimore City.

In this hands-on workshop, students learn to design and fabricate their own jewelry or small sculptures. They explore several jewelry and metalsmithing techniques, including piercing, filing, finishing, fabricating, soldering, forming, basic stone setting, basic embellishment techniques, and simple clasps.

More than 80% of Blue Jays are involved in our 350+ registered student organizations. Students are sure to find their fit with cultural groups, performing arts, sports clubs, Greek life, student publications, community service, professional societies, and even research opportunities.

Our students aren't simply defined by who they are in the classroom. Our wide array of organizations allows them to delve into their passions, explore their curiosities, and build leadership skills.

If students can't find what they're looking for, they're welcome to forge their own organization with a group of friends.

Professor Celenza's First-Year Seminar, Writing with Pictures - An Introduction to Writing Picture Books and Graphic Novels, explores the often-overlooked importance of text. 📚

The goal of this hands-on workshop is to build community through writing. Students tour an illustrator's studio, interact with professional writers and editors, and visit a local bookstore specializing in graphic novels.

🌟 No prior experience in creative writing or visual art is needed! This class is perfect for students who are excited to think cinematically, create forceful dialogue, and develop rich characters.
