As we close out our Charter Check Fridays series, we want to remind our community that your voice still matters.

Although the public commentary meetings have concluded, Baltimore residents can continue participating in the Charter Review process by emailing the Charter Review Committee or attending City Council meetings. Community engagement helps shape policies, strengthen accountability, and ensure that every voice has an opportunity to be heard.

Thank you for following along with us over the past several weeks as we broke down Baltimore’s Charter one fact at a time. Tau Eta Zeta remains committed to civic engagement, education, and empowering our community through knowledge and action.

Stay informed. Stay engaged. Stay involved.

THZ Presents Mindful Mondays: Men’s Mental Health Matters

Men’s mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, and su***de risk, are often overlooked or minimized. Many men are taught from an early age to hide emotions, remain strong at all times, and avoid appearing vulnerable. These expectations can make it difficult to ask for help, express emotional pain, or seek support when struggling.

Mental health conditions in men do not always look the way people expect. Depression and anxiety may appear through irritability, anger, emotional withdrawal, exhaustion, risk taking behaviors, sleep changes, or substance use instead of openly expressed sadness. Because these signs are often misunderstood, many men suffer in silence.

Stigma can make emotional honesty feel unsafe, but silence does not protect mental health. Support, conversation, therapy, healthy coping strategies, and trusted relationships can all help create space for healing and emotional safety.

Mental health is not a weakness. Asking for help is not failure. It is self awareness, courage, and care for your well being.

This week, Tau Eta Zeta encourages open conversations about men’s mental health. Check in with the men you love. Listen without judgment. Create space where honesty is welcomed and support is available.

If you or someone you know is struggling emotionally or in crisis, call or text 988 for immediate support through the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and Tau Eta Zeta is committed to creating space for conversations that matter.

Each week this month, we will share information, resources, and reminders centered on mental wellness for our community. We invite you to engage, reflect, and take intentional steps toward caring for your mind and your peace.

Our elders deserve care, connection, and compassion at every stage of life.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re bringing awareness to the mental health of older adults. Nearly 20 percent of adults age 55 and older experience some type of mental health concern, and many go undiagnosed. Life transitions, loss, and health challenges can deeply impact emotional well-being.

Connection matters. Take a moment to call, visit, or check in on the elders in your life. That simple act can make a meaningful difference.
