It’s been another challenging and painful week for our global family. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to the Haitian people, the Afghani people, and all our UMBC students and other community members most impacted by the humanitarian disaster and devastating events that have been unfolding in Haiti and Afghanistan. We’re also feeling the collective and continuing pain of the global pandemic in light of the recent surge of Covid cases in our state and beyond. We are reminded of how fragile and precious life is. In this spirit, we invite you to join us in leaning in and recommitting to our value of radical love and belonging. Let us know in the comments how we can connect with and support you or others during this trying moment.

Starting in 2014, has been recognized in the month of June. Immigrant Heritage Month is an initiative put forward by the foundation that seeks to celebrate our shared heritage as an immigrant nation and the important contributions to our economy, culture, and common identity by immigrants from all around the world. The celebration seeks to give immigrants and refugees in our country the opportunity to explore and celebrate their background as well as to create awareness on how diversity and immigration are both essential elements of our social fabric. Check out our most recent post highlighting this heritage month on myUMBC and our most recent collaboration with (link available in our bio)
