Happy , Sorors! A NEW Sorority Year is here! And with a new year comes new opportunities to lead boldly, serve intentionally, grow together, and leave an even greater impact. As we step into 2026–2027, let’s remember that the strength of Gamma is not just in what we accomplish individually, but in what we can accomplish together.

September is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month.

The observance became official in 1983, when the Congressional Black Caucus carried a resolution through the House and President Reagan signed the proclamation. Forty-three years later, the work is not finished.

Roughly 100,000 people in the United States live with sickle cell disease, and more than 90 percent of them are Black.

Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Incorporated recognizes this month to raise awareness and support for those living with this devastating disease.

Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Incorporated, is proud to announce our 2026 National Scholarship recipients.

🩵 Vera Mensan of Germantown, Maryland, receives the Elizabeth Garner Scholarship. She heads to George Mason University to study Computer Game Design, sponsored by Mu Omicron Chapter in the Eastern Region.

🩷Zoe Pender of Orlando, Florida, receives the National Merit Scholarship. She enters Howard University as a Biology major, sponsored by Gamma Delta Chapter in the South Atlantic Region.

🩵Emily Guess of Oakland, California, receives the National Undergraduate Scholarship. She will study architecture at Howard University, representing the Far Western Region.

🩷Shanell Williamson of Bassfield, Mississippi, receives the National Elevation Scholarship. She is pursuing a degree in Health Care Administration at Jackson State University and represents the Southern Region.

Each of these talented women is worthy of the funding that they've received to build better futures for our country.

NCNW Headquarters has named Dr. Kartessa Bell, Tess Bell, International Supreme Basileus and CEO of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Incorporated, one of three Honorary Co-Chairs for the 62nd National Convention, convening October 21st through 25th in Atlanta, Georgia.

Three decades ago, Gamma Phi Delta welcomed Dr. Dorothy I. Height into National Honorary Membership. Dr. Height led NCNW for more than forty years. This October, our International Supreme Basileus helps convene the Council Dr. Height carried.

Dr. Bell serves alongside Convention Chair Ms. Ingrid Saunders Jones, NCNW's 6th President and Chair, and fellow Honorary Co-Chairs Ms. Virginia W. Harris of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and Ms. Eddie Lee Marsh of Top Ladies of Distinction, Incorporated TLOD, Inc. - National.

Gamma Phi Delta has held Life Member standing with NCNW for decades and has carried representation on its board and in the National Affiliates Assembly. Dr. Bell now carries that seat forward.

To my wonderful International Board of Directors, dedicated teams, and beautiful sorors, thank you for the love, prayers, service, and wonderful memories shared during our 64th Biennial Boulé in Baltimore, Maryland.

Get some rest and enjoy some well-deserved relaxation. I look forward to an incredible new sorority year filled with sisterhood, service, and excellence.
