Register now to have an unforgettable night of painting, politics and peace tomorrow, March 27! Students and faculty are welcome to join SNF Agora Institute Visiting Fellow, Rosy Sunshine Galvan, to contribute to a collaborative mural whilst engaging in both political discussion and sound bathing.

This community workshop, “Painted Perspectives: Art as a Bridge to Civic Dialogue” draws inspiration from the popular game “We’re Not Really Strangers” and will encourage participants to engage in open political discussions. Grounding exercises and sound bathing will follow deep conversations to cultivate a calming, creative environment.

Students are especially encouraged to participate. Registration is capped, but spots are still available. Sign up soon if you are interested!

U.S. history may be polarizing Americans more by generation than by race or ideology, according to new research from the SNF Agora Institute and Millions of Conversations

Peter Pomerantsev, SNF Agora Institute Senior Fellow and a lead author of the study, says anniversaries force us to ask who gets to tell the national story. The findings suggest that while origin stories divide generations, Americans still share common ground on major civil rights milestones.

Join Masha Lisitsyna, SNF Agora Visiting Fellow, for lunch to examine divisions within global civil society that have become especially visible since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Lisitsyna will present findings from her work with Ukrainian civil society and policymakers to develop exchanges with partners in Latin America and Africa. The presentation will be followed by a moderated discussion on the findings and on practical ways to strengthen solidarity in an increasingly fragmented world.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins University is now accepting applications for a 2026–27 Artist in Residence, part of our Visiting Fellows program.

We welcome artists working across visual, performance, musical, and interdisciplinary forms.

The Artist in Residence will develop an original project while engaging with faculty, students, and the broader community. The fellowship is non-residential and includes a stipend of up to $25,000.
