The Johns Hopkins Teaching Academy A Johns Hopkins professional development program to prepare doctoral students & post-doctoral fellow

The Teaching Academy is a professional development program is for PhD students and Post-doctoral Fellows who are considering academic careers that will involve teaching. Participants acquire an overview of pedagogy, explore different educational models, acquire teaching and assessment skills, and work with faculty teaching mentors in a classroom, online course, or laboratory environment. An option

al component at the end of the program will offer the opportunity for graduate students who wish to explore the possibility of contributing to the scholarship of teaching and learning to develop teaching-as-research projects as part of their hands on teaching experiences. The program is designed to permit maximum flexibility for busy graduate students to participate while fulfilling their PhD research requirements. It is our hope that through PFF Teaching Academy, Hopkins doctoral students will not only acquire critical skills needed in their initial faculty appointments, but that their participation and the certificate that will be presented upon completion of the program will enhance their competitive advantage as they seek their first faculty appointments.
