Just finished up our first day at Nationals! We first played UNC and dominated 9-0, moving forward to the semi-finals to play Bowdoin.

We lost 3-6 to Bowdoin but had some really close matches, with Annabel Gillespie's match going to 5 games and Nicole Ferzoco, Michelle Haut, and Connie Gonzalez stealing a game off their opponents. Shoutout to Seonha Hwang for keeping us on our toes but getting the W in 5 games!!

Although we lost, we are so proud of the girls and how they played. This was our tightest match of the season! Tomorrow, we face Colgate for the #3 spot in the bracket.

During the first weekend of February, we traveled to Boston for a round robin tournament. We lost to Northeastern 2-7, with Connie Gonzalez and Anjali Vishwanath bringing in wins and Michelle Haut having a tough 5-gamer. We then defeated Wellesley and Boston University, with every Wash. U. player winning her match! Thanks for playing us, Northeastern Squash, Wellesley College Squash, and Boston University Squash Team!

We also recently brought 7 girls to play a local high school, MICDS, and we won 4-3, with some really close matches!

This weekend, we are headed to Connecticut for Nationals to close out our season. Wish our girls luck if you see them!

This weekend, we traveled to Baltimore to participate in the annual Jesters Meadow Mill Tournament, and dominated 3-1! We began the tournament with a Friday match against Johns Hopkins, where we won 7-1, with Olivia Liang’s match going to four games. Right after, we faced new team University of Richmond and also won 7-1, with Seonha Hwang and Sarah Acselrod bageling their opponents in two out of three of their games.

On Saturday, we played new team University of North Carolina and won 7-1, with Anjali Vishwanath having a tough five-gamer. We then faced off against Georgeton, against whom we lost 0-8, but several games were very close, including Katy Moran’s 5-game nail-biter!

We are so proud of how hard all our girls played, especially since all were playing 1 or 2 spots ahead. Even so, 6 out of 8 of our girls bageled an opponent at least once this weekend!! We are heading to Boston this weekend and hope to bring the same energy that we brought to Baltimore. Congratulate our girls if you see them!

And thanks to Johns Hopkins Squash, Carolina Squash, Georgetown Women's Squash, and Richmond Squash for playing us!

This weekend, we traveled to New York for our first squash tournament of the season! We won both of our games, despite being down a player—a great start to the season! In our first match against NYU, our #2 and #1 players Anjali Vishwanath and Connie Gonzalez (respectively) had some tough matches, but both pulled out victories, and Wash U won 8-1. Against Fordham, freshman Sarah Acselrod had a very close match that went to five games! We won 7-2 against Fordham. Special shoutouts to seniors Michelle Haut and Nicole Ferzoco for bageling their opponents.

We are so proud of our girls for playing so well and are excited to play more matches in the second semester!

Our final spotlight goes out to Misha Hooda. Misha has been incredibly involved with the squash team since her freshman year, having played on her high school's varsity team, and has served as co-captain since her sophomore year. She has taken the team to new heights and has pushed us all to be the best squash players we can be.

At Wash U, Misha double majored in Global Health and the Environment and Biology. She has dedicated a lot of time to other activities besides squash, such as Raas (an Indian cultural dance group and Luminescence (a leadership honorary). She has served as a Resident Advisor to first years for the past two years and has conducted research at Wash U's med school.

When asked about the team, Misha said, "I’ve been on the the team since my Freshman year and have been a Co-Captain since my sophomore year. Being in this team has been an incredible part of my time at Wash U. I have met so many wonderful people and have learned so much. Every year I was so excited to start planning tournaments and travel for weekends with everyone and it’s going to be something I truly miss once once I graduate."

We will miss you, Misha!
