Communication and teamwork are crucial components of any successful emergency response. Here, students in our EMT class are challenged to build the tallest free-standing tower constructed using only popsicle sticks and rubber bands. The lesson? An introduction to crew resource management, where we associate CRM principles with their tower build. Future EMTs? Most certainly. Future engineers? Certainly not.

Even with packed boxes and our big move back to our newly renovated space tomorrow… the learning never stops!

Today our junior paramedic interns are visiting MIEMSS/SYSCOM to see firsthand how Maryland’s EMS communications system operates. Experiences like this give our students a behind-the-scenes look at statewide EMS coordination and patient care support.
