Art historian Jennifer Roberts will give a Paula G. Manship Endowed Lecture “Print at a Distance” on Wednesday, October 7 at 5 p.m. in Cox Auditorium. Her talk is also the opening remarks of the MAPC Printelligence Conference held at the LSU School of Art. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Dr. Roberts is a Harvard art history professor whose scholarship focuses on the interface between the arts and the natural sciences, the history and theory of craft and materiality, and the history of print.

The LSU School of Art will host the 2026 Mid America Print Council (MAPC) Conference Printelligence October 7-10, 2026 at LSU. Led by printmaking faculty organizers Leslie Koptcho and Lauren Cardenas, the national annual conference will bring printmakers from around the country to Baton Rouge.

Amy Campos, CCA professor of interior design, will give a Paula G. Manship Endowed Lecture to the College of Art & Design on Wednesday, September 30 at 3:30 p.m. in 103 Julian T. White Hall. All are welcome.

Amy Campos is Professor of Interior Design at California College of the Arts and is the founder and principal of ACA (Amy Campos Architect). Her work focuses on critical issues of durability and design with special interest in the impermanent, migratory potentials of the interior. The work spans a variety of scales and platforms from inhabited urban and architectural spaces to object and furniture design.

Going beyond the books to make history relevant

Photographer 𝗜𝘄𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗮𝗻 will give a Paula G. Manship Endowed Lecture to the College of Art & Design on 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟴 𝗮𝘁 𝟯:𝟯𝟬 𝗣𝗠 in 103 Julian T. White Hall Auditorium.

Dutch photographer Iwan Baan is known primarily for images that narrate the life and interactions that occur within architecture. Born in 1975, Iwan grew up outside Amsterdam, studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and worked in publishing and documentary photography in New York and Europe.

With no formal training in architecture, his perspective mirrors the questions and perspectives of the everyday individuals who give meaning and context to the architecture and spaces that surround us, and this artistic approach has given matters of architecture an approachable and accessible voice.

As the inaugural recipient of the Julius Shulman award for photography, today, architects such as Rem Koolhaas, Herzog & de Meuron, Zaha Hadid, Diller Scofidio & Renfro, Toyo Ito, SANAA and Morphosis turn to Baan to give their work a sense of place and narrative within their environments. Alongside his architecture commissions, Iwan has collaborated on several successful book projects such as Insular Insight: Where Art and Architecture Conspire with Nature, Torre David: Informal Vertical Communities and Brasilia & Chandigarh – Living With Modernity. Baan’s work also appears on the pages of architecture, design and lifestyle publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Architectural Record, Domus, Abitare and Architectural Digest.

Iwan Baan was named one of the 100 most influential people in contemporary architecture world by the magazine Il Magazine dell’Architettura on occasion of their 100th issue.
