Join Us Virtually for Career Connections During CHSE Career Prep Week!

In the past, our School of Information Studies students have not been able to participate in CHSE Career Prep Week because our programs are fully remote. This year, we’re excited to offer SIS students a virtual opportunity to take part!

On Wednesday, September 30, from 5–7 p.m., SIS students are invited to join the Career Connections event virtually via Zoom. This session will give you the opportunity to interact with and ask questions of library and information professionals, learn more about careers in the field, and make valuable professional connections.

Registration is required. For more information about Career Prep Week and to register for the virtual Career Connections session, visit:

We hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity to connect with professionals in the field and learn more about the career possibilities available to you as an information studies student.

What happens when an online classroom takes you all the way to the UK? 🇬🇧

This summer, SIS students explored historic libraries, archives and cultural institutions across Scotland and England through the Libraries in the UK study abroad program. For LSU Online students, the four-week experience was also a chance to meet classmates in person, build lasting connections and see the possibilities of an information studies degree beyond the screen.

Read the full story to hear from students and faculty about the places they visited, the experiences that stood out and why stepping outside your comfort zone can make all the difference.

We are so proud to be a part of this course and to assist with AI Literacy. At the core of who we are, The School of Information Studies seeks to find, share, and educate in knowledge. Helping others to understand this future of information is a "Geaux Tigers" in our book!

Today, LSU launched AI Literacy Essentials, a free online course that provides a general introduction to artificial intelligence (AI) and how to use it effectively, professionally, and ethically.

We are so proud of our faculty member, Kristina Shiroma, who spearheaded a grant to combat ageism and educate older adults.

As the population of those 65 and older continues to grow, library services for older adults must evolve and expand, too.

The LSU School of Information Studies Hooding Ceremony is more than a graduation, it is also a celebration of years of hard work, perseverance, and dedication to the information professions.

This spring, SIS faculty, staff, family, and friends gathered to recognize the accomplishments of our newest graduates as they crossed the stage and were hooded, symbolizing their transition from students to information professionals ready to make an impact in libraries, archives, museums, schools, businesses, government agencies, and communities around the world.

Whether you are a graduate looking to relive the moment, a family member who couldn't attend, or a member of the SIS community who wants to celebrate the Class of 2026, we invite you to watch the full ceremony on our YouTube channel.
