The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) supports the mission of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to reduce health disparities and improve health-care outcomes of racially and ethnically diverse populations by increasing the number and availability of culturally competent doctoral graduates to meet the needs of underserved populations in both the public and private nonprofit sectors. "Mr. DeKeitra Griffin is wholly committed to undertaking actions that contribute to closing the racialized behavioral health gap. The academic opportunities Mr. Griffin has been afforded thus far have shaped his readiness to take full advantage of the many benefits provided by the MFP. The MFP will map out a path forward as he completes his dissertation, as well as provide a scaffold upon which Mr. Griffin can integrate his research knowledge and skills with his lived experience. With the generous support provided by the CSWE MFP award, he is well positioned to further his leadership abilities as a culturally-conscious behavioral health researcher and policy advocate."
