Reading is fundamental to a child’s development—and it’s never too early to start. Research and guidance from the March of Dimes note that reading to babies in the NICU can support bonding, early language development, and parent-child connection.

That’s why the Baton Rouge Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., in partnership with the March of Dimes, is proud to host a NICU Book Drive benefiting the babies and families of Woman's Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

📖 Why Woman’s Hospital?
Woman’s Hospital is Louisiana’s largest single-hospital delivery service and home to the state’s largest NICU, with 84 licensed NICU beds. The hospital delivers approximately 8,000 babies each year and has welcomed more than 400,000 babies since opening in 1968.

💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 💜

As October quickly approaches, The Butterfly Society will be celebrating our 12th Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month with a month of events focused on bringing our community together to stand against domestic violence.

Throughout the month, we’ll gather for meaningful conversations, community events, and opportunities to share Our Stories, Our Truth, Our Voices, and Our Power.

So much of the work we do happens privately and behind the scenes to protect the privacy, safety, and dignity of victims and survivors. Our October calendar is an opportunity for our community to learn more about the work we do, connect with us, and find ways to show their support.

From A Call to Men: Our Power to our Jazz Brunch: Our Stories — there are many ways to be part of this movement.
