We're saddened to hear that one of our program's graduate alums, Joey Watson, has died. Dr. Watson earned his PhD in 2014. During his time in the program, he also founded the TEDxLSU speaker series, which resulted in the local magazine 225 characterizing him as one of its "People to Watch" in 2013. A gifted teacher and filmmaker, online tributes to Dr. Watson speak to his generosity and creativity. At the time of his death, he was Associate Professor of Film and Media Arts at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

The International Journal of Information, Diversity, and Inclusion recently reprinted his essay "Nuanced Archival Triangulation (NAT): An Interdisciplinary Approach for Studying Quotidian Photography" in its tenth anniversary issue. This is a powerful reflection of the article's enduring impact in information studies and beyond.
