LSU Department of Public Administration

Earlier this month, we were pleased to welcome two guest speakers to our PADM 4000: Intro to Local Government Management class, taught by Jared Llorens: Rowdy Gaudet, District 3 Metro Councilmember, and Matt Vaughn-Zyjewski (MPA '19), senior program director at the Institute for Building Technology and Safety (IBTS).

Both provided valuable perspectives on the ways local government systems are designed and function, how private-public partnerships work, and more. We are grateful for their insights.

How does an idea move from early concept to government action, and ultimately into the daily lives of Louisiana citizens?

Through the Governor’s Fellows Program in Louisiana Government, students from across the state can discover the answer first-hand as they spend their summer embedded directly inside cabinet-level agencies in Baton Rouge. These fellows operate like full-time executive staff, shaping policy initiatives, and presenting actionable proposals to the Office of the Governor. Behind this experience is the LSU Department of Public Administration, providing a core curriculum for the fellows that runs in parallel.
