In Spring Quarter, OLS students taking Self Determination visited the Crossroads Community Center in Bellevue and had the opportunity to engage with a vibrant, multicultural space dedicated to learning, creativity, and community connection.

Operated by the City of Bellevue, and designed as an inclusive gathering place, the center helped students build valuable relationships, explore new interests, and connect with people.

Through hands-on experiences students gained exposure to leadership, collaboration, and lifelong learning opportunities in a welcoming environment (and had a lot of fun playing pool, giant board games, air hockey, and more!).

Critical thinking is a big part of every course in OLS and something we challenge our students on throughout their time in the program.

But we also offer several courses that focus specifically on critical thinking and go deeper into its concepts and real-world applications. Once of those courses is Critical Thinking Through Media, which teaches students how to look at media and advertising and how they influence audiences.

In Spring quarter earlier this year, students spent time in class working through articles, doing research, and labeling the articles as credible, needs verification, or not credible. They also visited the 91.3 KBCS station to get a first-hand look into a non-profit station, a great way to see both the broadcasting process and how being a listener-supported station applies to what they've been learning about media funding in class.

Our Skills for Work II Summer Camp was last week — and that's a wrap on 2026 summer camps! Here's a few highlights from last week's camp.

We had such a blast with every student who joined us this summer. From tie-dying t-shirts and painting a Northern Lights scene to exploring career pathways on the Bellevue College campus and beyond, this summer was packed with incredible opportunities and fun activities.

OLS was recently featured as part of a story published by Bellevue College that highlights the college's three programs that support students who are neurodivergent, have learning differences, are disabled, or need accommodations.

We are so proud to be part of a campus that welcomes and celebrates all students and provides a place for OLS students to earn their degree and enjoy all the perks of being a college student.

Our first session of summer camps was a blast!

These wonderful young adults joined us for a week of fun and learning, exploring career pathways, learning job readiness skills, and exploring the BC campus.

Each student got to make a tie-dye t-shirt to take home, and we had a wonderful time with the VR headsets in the .xrlab, among many other fun activities throughout the week.

Our next session starts July 20—and we still have a few spots available. If you are looking for a fun way to spend a week this summer getting ready for life after high school, this is it!

Last week, we celebrated the OLS Class of 2026 in style at our annual Graduate
Presentation Night. This is always such a wonderful event, celebrating our grads as they reflect on how far they've come since they first started at OLS.

Third-year OLS students were in attendance to receive the Passing of the Torch and some last pieces of advice and encouragement for their final year in the
program.

Thank you to all the family, friends, internship managers, faculty, and staff who came to celebrate these wonderful graduates!

Congratulations, again, Class of 2026 — we can't wait to see what comes next for you all!
