SUNNY SATURDAY from The Scout House.

Catch a little glimpse into a 1940's cottage where some Cascade Upholstery furnishings go to live a good life. We experiment with design, scale, comfort and vibe in this incubator. Most furnishings were found in an alley, free on Marketplace or gifted. Everything has been rejuvenated with love and intention at the workshop...... and everything in this place has a story to tell.

The warm coral tones in the woven slip cover fabric (see close up) are the first introduction of color in what is normally a neutral / natural color palette here. We're liking the subtle way that the color plays with the painted chairs and the Chevy-teal tailgate.

The blueish bird-themed lumbar pillow on the other sofa speaks to the active birdlife at this former orchard, where the birds are always in motion and very outspoken.

STREAMLINED. Wondering how to make your own chair look more contemporary and updated? Follow our lead and reupholster with minimal welt. We streamlined this beauty's style by eliminating the welt running vertically on the inside back's seams and on the seat cushion's seams. Applying small, 4/32", welt around the base and on the outer perimeter adds professional delineation without dating its style.

...PHONES ARE STILL DOWN.... but that's not slowing production down.
If you're wondering what yesterday's chair looks like today, this is the rich brindle hair-on-hide that was upholstered onto the back of the chair. This pair of chairs were finished with subtle nail heads around the perimeter. They got picked up so quickly by the excited client that we didn't even get to snap pics of the finished set. Their personalities changed drastically from the faded green velvet that the client's late mother had adored for decades. We're guessing that they had been custom made in the 1960's. They are now featured prominently in a modern mountain home, in tribute to their matriarch, for the next generation to adore.

PHONES ARE DOWN. Are you feeling a little incomplete , partially upholstered, unfinished today like we are? The storm left our shop without a phone line and without internet. For those of you without power, please stay warm and take care of your neighbors who may need help lighting a fire in their fireplaces.
