There’s something incredibly satisfying about shaping wood with your own hands, and now’s your chance to learn how. Whether you’re brand new to carving or looking to build your skills, Bellevue College Community Education offers two immersive woodworking summer classes designed for beginners:

3D Woodcarving Animals for Beginners
Learn the art of whittling as you create two charming animal carvings from start to finish. You’ll explore essential techniques like tool selection, precision cuts, and sharpening, plus finish your pieces with oil for a polished result.

Spoon Carving for Beginners
Turn simple materials into something beautiful and functional. In this hands-on class, you’ll carve both a practical kitchen spoon and a decorative “love spoon,” while learning foundational carving skills, wood selection, and finishing techniques.

Get a hands-on foundation in the essentials including aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focus, lenses, and more, so you can create sharp, well-exposed, and intentional images. Our summer Digital Photography Level 1 - Essentials course will teach you universal photography principles that apply to any digital camera, building the confidence and skills to grow into more advanced techniques.

55+ and looking for an online painting class this summer? Register by 6/30 for our Landscapes in Acrylics.

This live online art course takes inspiration from seasonal landscapes – a perfect way to appreciate the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. With step-by-step instructions and lots of exercises, you will learn the basics of acrylic painting, basic composition, color mixing, blending, as well as "wet in wet" and working in layers. Through demonstrations and individual guidance, you will work on your own piece at your own pace.

The History of Interwar Surrealism in France — A 6-Week Online Journey

Join our 6-week online course exploring the history of France's surrealist movement between World War I and World War. This summer TELOS Lifelong Learners (55+) class will examine the evolution of the movement and focus on the internal debates about politics and art, which informed the movement's engagement with key episodes in French history, including the Rif War and the Colonial Exposition of 1931, to illuminate the intellectual underpinnings and revolutionary aims of the movement.

This one-day workshop introduces students to the foundations of Buddhist meditation and its practical benefits for everyday life. Students will learn what Buddhist meditation is, discover the benefits of meditation, and gain practical instruction on how to begin and sustain a personal meditation practice. Just added! Our first session filled up, so we've opened a second in-person Easy Conversational Japanese class on Wednesday evenings starting this July.

This 6-week evening class is great for anyone looking to build confidence speaking Japanese in a supportive, in-person setting. This beginner-level course is designed for students who have some basic exposure to Japanese and familiarity with simple greetings and basic expressions (such as self-introductions and very basic phrases). Through guided conversation practice, pair activities, and real-life scenarios, students will strengthen pronunciation, expand vocabulary, and develop comfort using simple sentence patterns in everyday situations.
