We want to invite you to the upcoming ASIST training on su***de prevention and intervention skills. Registration will be free and open to anyone 16 and older. Feel free to share with other leaders, students, supporters in the community and those interested in prevention efforts. 🎒 **Help Us Support Homeless Veterans This Season!** 🇺🇸

Bellevue University’s **Military Veteran Services Center (MVSC) is collecting donations now through Friday, Nov. 8, to fill 100 backpacks** with essential items for homeless veterans served by Siena Francis House and New Visions Homeless Services.

These backpacks will include winter gear, hygiene products, and other necessities to help veterans who often stay on the move rather than in shelters long-term.

🗣️ MVSC Manager Ashlea Rodriguez shared:
_"We do this drive every year because the need is always there. It’s a way for our community to support both the shelters that serve our veterans and the veterans who served our country."_

JOIN THE MVSC FOR A CREATIVE EXPERIENCE AT THE SCROLLATHON.

The MVSC has been invited to take part in an exciting community art initiative at the Joslyn Art Museum. On Thursday, September 4, from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m., we’ll participate in a Scrollathon workshop led by artist-brothers Steven and William Ladd, and we’d love for you to join us. There is no cost to participate.

A Scrollathon is a hands-on, collaborative workshop where each participant creates two small textile scrolls—one to keep and one to contribute to a larger artwork. The final piece will be displayed at the Joslyn and represent Nebraska at the United States’ 250th birthday celebration in Washington, D.C. in 2026.

The Joslyn will also host a free Art-tastic Saturday, where the finished Scrollathon works will be informally displayed on Saturday, September 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Next spring, the completed Scrollathon project will be on view in the Museum’s Connect Gallery, alongside photos from the workshops. Participants will be invited back to celebrate the exhibition.

These low-impact, beginner-friendly classes are a great way to improve balance, mobility, and mindfulness while helping reduce stress, anxiety, and more. No experience is needed, and chairs are available for seated modifications. It’s free for Veterans, Dependents, and Bellevue University employees—come breathe, move, and improve with us!
