PROM?! On May 6th, 2023 at 8PM WWU's ACDA chapter is hosting a prom to help fundraise for Summer Institute. All music students are welcome, we just ask you make a donation for entry! Come enjoy a fun "night at the symphony" with your peers and celebrate Spring quarter. See you there!

WWU ACDA presents "Being Your Students' First Voice Teacher"

Thursday, Jan. 19th at 4:30 pm in the Band Room, Dr. Hodges will share his experience learning the reality that many choir teachers also have the responsibility of being the first voice teacher students may encounter. He'll share tips and tricks for approaching voice pedagogy in the choral classroom and preparing students-and yourself- for having to teach solo voice technique as well as choral.

October 18 at 7:00PM in PAC 47, Andy Marshall, the director of Blaine MS/HS choirs will be presenting on incorporating contemporary music styles, like pop and a ca****la in the choral classroom and engaging students with the genre. Andy was part of the professional a ca****la group, “Kickshaw” and has programmed much pop music in his classrooms! We’re excited to learn from his expertise!

Are you interested in singing? How about singing with vocal styles that aren't typically taught in a classical setting? And how do you bring that to an ensemble? We've got something for you!

This Wednesday, May 25th at 6:30 pm, WWU ACDA will be presenting an event called "Teaching Non-Traditional Vocal Ensembles". Taking place in PAC Rm. 24, this event will feature presentations about teaching gospel, a ca****la, and jazz singing techniques for various grade levels and ensembles, and will feature 3 fabulous presenters:
Toure Pruitt (Mukilteo School District, Elementary)
Andy Marshall (Blaine School District, Middle & High School)
Mike Scott (WWU, collegiate)

This event is open to anyone interested (so bring your friends!) and is sure to be super engaging and informative!
