2026 is right around the corner, and we are excited to invite families to kick off the new year with us in a fun-filled indoor/outdoor environment to connect with other families, learn about and discuss a wide variety of topics ranging from the importance of play, early literacy, health & safety, potty training, sleep, development, connections, relationships, and SO much more! We offer classes for families with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Each class hosts a wide variety of activities such as story-time, arts/crafts, music, imagination stations, dress-up, building blocks, snack time, outdoor play, and more. Bellingham Technical College and the Whatcom County Library System are partnering to offer a safe, inviting, relaxed atmosphere where parents and caregivers can connect, build relationships and find answers to parenting questions. The whole family is invited to attend. Instructors from BTC's Child and Family Studies Department will facilitate conversations with the adults while WCLS Youth Services staff will lead learning-based reading and play geared to children ages 2-6. At the end of each evening, we'll come together for a shared pizza dinner, provided through the Project Neighborly Fund of the Whatcom Community Foundation.
Families from across Whatcom County are welcome. There is no cost for participants. No registration is required, though space is limited.

Our Fall classes are about to begin, and we will be running our annual in-class art project: Make-It Plates! This year we would like to extend this opportunity not only to our students, but to anyone who is interested! We know that for some of you, these have become a traditional holiday gift, so don't delay!

3 simple steps:
*Print the attached make-it plate template
*Have your artists create their designs on the template
*Drop off your completed templates by 10/5/23, with # of plates requested per design, and your contact information! Drop off between 9am-12noon, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday!

$12 for every 10" plate ordered -- no shipping charges, as all plates will be delivered to our Family Learning Center by Thanksgiving!
