💛 A Special Notre Dame Connection

A memorable moment bringing together three remarkable women: Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Sister Nancy O’Shea, SNDdeN, and former U.S. Representative Anna Eshoo.

📸 Pictured from left to right: Nancy Pelosi, Sister Nancy O’Shea, and Anna Eshoo.

The photo is especially meaningful given Pelosi’s and Sister Nancy’s connections to the Notre Dame de Namur community. Pelosi is a graduate of Trinity College in Washington, D.C., founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, while Sister Nancy has been a longtime member of the Notre Dame de Namur community. Eshoo has also been a longtime friend and supporter of SNDdeN.

A wonderful photo capturing friendship, connection, and the enduring reach of the Notre Dame de Namur mission. 💙

📚 New Book Featuring a Foreword by Dr. Helen Marlo

We’re proud to share the upcoming release of Synchronicity in Grief: Reconstructing Meaning After Loss by Jennifer Hill, PhD, featuring a foreword by Dr. Helen Marlo, Dean of the School of Psychology at Notre Dame de Namur University.

Published by Routledge, the book explores how experiences of synchronicity and meaningful coincidence can shape grief, continuing bonds, and the process of reconstructing meaning after loss. Drawing from Jungian theory, contemporary grief frameworks, research, and experiences across different forms of loss, the book offers insights for mental health professionals, researchers, counselors, and those navigating grief.

Pre-orders for the book open September 15, 2026.

Congratulations to Dr. Hill on this important new work, and to Dr. Marlo for contributing her expertise through the book’s foreword! 💙💛

🧠 Dr. Helen Marlo, Dean of the School of Psychology, Professor of Clinical Psychology at Notre Dame de Namur University, and founder of a community perinatal support service, Mentoring Mothers, recently shared her expertise with both People magazine and The Patriot Ledger for articles examining postpartum psychosis and the complexities of maternal mental health amid the Lindsay Clancy trial.

Across both articles, Dr. Marlo discusses the significant biological, psychological, cultural, and social changes associated with motherhood; misconceptions surrounding psychosis; how symptoms may not always be apparent to others; and the importance of integrated treatment and access to care.

Through her contributions to both publications, Dr. Marlo brings her clinical and scholarly expertise to an important national conversation, helping deepen public understanding of postpartum psychosis and maternal mental health.
