There’s nothing quite like coming home to UMHB—especially when you get to share it with family. 💜

Family Weekend is September 18–19, and we’re inviting our alumni families to come back to campus, make new UMHB memories, and experience all the traditions and Cru spirit that make this place feel like home.

Whether you’re returning as the parent of a current student, celebrating your family’s UMHB legacy, or simply looking for another reason to be back on campus, we hope you’ll join us!

Our October Legacies are siblings, Morgan and Frank Oliver!

Morgan is a senior Biology Pre-PA major, and Frank is a sophomore Engineering major from Tomball, TX. They are the grandchildren of Jerry ‘73 and the late Janice ‘79 Caldwell.

UMHB and its nursing program were familiar to both of them long before they became students, woven into family stories and visits to campus for multiple scholarship dedications.

When Morgan and Frank toured UMHB, they each discovered their own reasons to love the university. Today, Morgan is #1 and a goalie for Cru Women’s Soccer, while Frank can often be found cheering on his sister from the stands or studying in the engineering building. We’re grateful for legacy students like Morgan and Frank, who are adding their own chapter to a family story at UMHB that began generations ago.

Alumni, know a future Crusader?

Help them experience the place that means so much to you! The first CRU Day of the semester is Sept. 7, and it’s a great opportunity for prospective students to picture themselves at UMHB.

They’ll tour campus, meet professors, learn about life at UMHB, and discover how they can find their calling here.

Tag a student or family who should have UMHB on their list, and encourage them to come see what it means to be a Crusader!

Our UMHB family is deeply saddened by the loss of Pat Shannon ’53, a devoted alumna whose generosity and service left a lasting mark on the university she loved.

Throughout her life, Pat remained deeply connected to UMHB, serving as a university trustee, generously supporting the mission of the university, and investing in generations of Crusaders. Her dedication to her alma mater was recognized when she received the Distinguished Alumni Award, one of UMHB’s highest alumni honors.

Pat’s life reflected what it means to be a Crusader Forever—faithfully giving back, serving others, and helping ensure that future generations could experience the UMHB she held so dear. We are grateful for her remarkable legacy and the many ways her love for Mary Hardin-Baylor will continue to be felt.

Every UMHB ring has a story. What’s yours?

Maybe you remember the day you received it, the people who helped you get there, or the years of memories it represents. Your UMHB class ring is more than a piece of jewelry—it’s a reminder of your journey, your accomplishments, and the place you’ll always call home. 💜

Alumni, we want to hear your ring story! Share a photo of your UMHB ring and tell us what it means to you in the comments. Whether your ring is brand new, well-loved, or has a story all its own, we’d love to celebrate it.

And as a new group of Crusaders prepares to receive theirs, save the date for the UMHB Ring Ceremony on September 18! 🔔Every UMHB ring has a story. What’s yours?

It has officially been two weeks since the new school year began, and students are starting to settle into their schedules and routines.

Freshmen in 1962 had a little extra help adjusting to college life with a ""Hints to Freshmen"" guide. Some of its helpful advice included:

“Be sure to bring a green dress for initiation, one which will withstand rough treatment, and can be washed.”

“Dress should always be neat— no skin-tight or ridiculous clothing, please.”

“So that you and your roommate will not arrive with a pink and orange combination, you might like to wait until you can get together and select the spreads and curtains.”

While some of these tips are definitely a product of their time, the excitement of starting a new school year hasn't changed. What advice would you give today’s freshmen as they begin their first year at UMHB?
