We have one event this week. A workshop called Women Abroad.

Choosing to study in a different country is an exciting step in your college career. As a woman, you may encounter unique challenges and rewards while you navigate the study abroad landscape.

In our session, you will hear recent student returnees and UC staff from around the world share about their experiences as women abroad. Attend and gain insight on topics like international access to reproductive healthcare, how to understand and respond to different gender norms, establishing a support network overseas, tips for solo traveling, and more.

A Journey Inward: How Daily Journaling Leads to Personal Growth

Day 116 – Last Day in Villarrica (12/26/2023): With most of my stuff packed up, I returned to the yard to sit under the apple tree and soak in my surroundings. The warm red color of my host mom’s home with its open windows and smoking chimney. Chickens were clucking around, pecking for food on the ground. The shade of the trees with budding green apples and cherries, many of them already half eaten by birds at their most sour stage.

I feel like I’ve grown up here. My time in Villarrica has shaped who I want to be as a person. I want to care for others, animals, the land, and plants. I want to cultivate the caring and resilient independence I see in my host mom, the humility and humor I see in my host dad, and the willingness to change while also following my gut instincts as I see in Newen, their five-month-old puppy.

That entry is just one of the 289 pages I wrote during 125 days of studying abroad in Chile, where I had the privilege of living on a small farm with a wonderful host family...

🇵🇭 Philippines: Narratives of Tradition and Resistance

Course: SEASN 154: Philippines: Narratives of Tradition and Resistance (6 units)

Learn about Philippine history, culture, and society through interactions with Filipino people, as well as selected lectures by leading scholars in the Philippines. Students will be based at the University of the Philippines Diliman, the flagship campus of the national university system, and will go on field trips to farming communities, urban poor communities, the Cordillera mountain region, and more. Learn more here.

$1,500 Berkeley Study Abroad Scholarship available. You will be automatically considered if you have an SAI of $50,000 or less, no application is necessary. All Berkeley participants in this program who are Financial Aid Eligible with a SAI of 50,000 or less will be awarded an additional $500 scholarship. You will be automatically considered, no application is necessary.

🇫🇷 Paris, France: Muslims in the West: Immigration, Refugees and Islamophobia

Course: Ethnic Studies N180: Muslims in the West (6 units)

This study abroad course examines the modern Muslim presence in France and Western Europe, including immigration, refugee history, and the unfolding political, social, intellectual, economic, architectural, currents in the country. In Paris, students will interact with local academics, community leaders and members and visit the critical collections in museums that formed and continue to shape the imaginary of the Muslim “other.”

$1,500 Berkeley Study Abroad Scholarship available. You will be automatically considered if you have an SAI of $50,000 or less, no application is necessary.

Participants in the UC Berkeley Summer Abroad program are eligible for a $1,500 Berkeley Study Abroad Scholarship. You will be automatically considered, no application is necessary.

AND we have some additional scholarships available for a few of our programs:

Ghana location
All Berkeley participants in the Berkeley Summer Abroad Ghana: Pan Afrikan Social Movements: Past, Present and Future program will be awarded an additional $1,000 scholarship.

Philippines location
All Berkeley participants in Summer Abroad Philippines who are Financial Aid Eligible with a SAI of 50,000 or less will be awarded an additional $500 scholarship. You will be automatically considered, no application is necessary.


Puebla location
