For Sabbath May 16, I was asked by Jharony Gibbs to bring a lamb for the kids to meet at Harbor of Hope church in Benton Harbor, MI. I brought a friendly little bottle lamb that the HH kids christened "Lovely." The weather was just beautiful and everyone enjoyed petting and interacting with this cute little girl lamb!

Spectrum Magazine published an article about our future plans.

"Educating Earth’s caretakers, Andrews University’s Department of Sustainable Agriculture is planning a new energy-efficient greenhouse with multi-use capacity. Students already practice rotational hands-on learning with livestock. What happens when the same experience is extended to horticulture?"

The last lab of the semester for our Equine Management class was a fun riding experience at Bit by Bit Stables in Niles, MI. Many thanks to owner Mattie Marsh who set up fun patterns for the horses and riders to follow. The horses themselves were wonderful and very tolerant of the novice riders we had. It was a terrific way to cap off the semester!

Our Animal Science students helped in the campus-wide Passion Play last Saturday April 4. They were animal handlers in the Marketplace scene and kept up their smiles and positive spirits even during the rain in the morning and the cold wind in the afternoon. Thanks so much for all you did and the blessing you brought to those experiencing the Play.

Today our Equine Management class visited the Therapeutic Equestrian Center (https://www.facebook.com/TherapeuticEquestrianCenter) and learned about what they do, met the horses and did some evaluations on them, and spent time with the wonderful volunteers led by Margie who was our excellent host. The saga of our newest sheep and goat shelter....
1 - photo of what the new shelter would look like
2- how the building was shipped to us last November
3- pouring the footings for the building
4- first attempt to put it up which was abandoned for several reasons including the weather
5- the building as it overwintered and endured the storms
6 - spring arrives and a new crew takes over putting it up
7- all done in 2 days... and the crumpled pieces straightened out just fine!
Looking forward to the finishing touches to make it a good sun and wind break for the sheep and goats.
