From the Student Movement newsroom to the White House and Apple.

At the Society of Adventist Communicators conference, Andrews communicators were recognized at every stage. Juniors Zipporah Petgrave and Ysabella Neves brought home five awards in design and feature writing. Alumna Joy Ngugi (‘15) received the Young Professional of the Year award after a career that took her from our film program to the White House and now to Apple. PR professor Greg Dunn earned an honorable mention too.

This is what it looks like to learn communication rooted in skill and faith. Congratulate them in the comments! 👏

“I really liked the escape room in mathematics, physics, and the interactivity of all the activities.” That’s how one student summed up SciFEST 2026. 🔬

From Sept. 17–20, 39 high schoolers from five academies spent a weekend on campus under the theme “Cells.” They worked through hands-on STEM labs, flew our new flight simulator and worshipped together at the Kingman Observatory.

On Sabbath, a faith-and-science panel invited them to ask the big questions. Saturday night ended with vespers, a Quiz Bowl and awards in Newbold Auditorium.

For years, Adventist high school musicians have missed out on events like All-State and Solo & Ensemble because they fall on Sabbath. This summer, that started to change. 🎻

In July, Andrews University hosted the inaugural summer camp of the Adventist Youth Music Association (AYMA). Seventeen students spent the week in private lessons, chamber ensembles and master classes, plus a trip to Silver Beach and worship at Pioneer Memorial Church.

The week ended with a final concert. “It was so exciting to see them perform what they had been working on,” says Nathalia Phu, a sophomore music education student who served as a counselor.

Do you know a young musician who should be part of AYMA next summer? Share this with their family.

Can an AI chatbot replace your therapist? Our students debated it on stage. 🎤

From Sept. 10 to 13, the second annual Thrive: Andrews University Mental Health & Lifestyle Symposium examined how AI, smartphones, and constant connectivity are shaping our mental health.

Students, faculty, and guest experts discussed responsible AI use and digital protection, as well as sleep, nutrition, nature, and faith. A live demo showed how a chatbot responds to someone in distress, and the conclusion was clear: human connection still comes first. 🤝

Roger Seheult’s advice for all of us? Get outside. 🌿

Thank you to the Counseling & Testing Center, the College of Health & Human Services, and the Lifestyle Medicine Clinic & Training Center for bringing it all together. Thrive returns in 2027 with a focus on college anxiety.
