Our team recently traveled to Texas for a series of productive meetings in San Antonio and College Station. While in San Antonio, we connected with military and healthcare leaders to discuss the Military-Civilian Medical Surge Program (MCMSP). With its deep expertise in combat casualty care and civilian health integration, San Antonio is uniquely suited to help shape MCMSP. At its core, this initiative aims to enhance medical surge capacity, improve personnel mobilization, and ensure the United States is prepared to care for catastrophic volumes of casualties when needed most. Gathering early feedback from our partners is essential, and we are deeply grateful for their insights and active collaboration as we establish the foundation for this work.
Thank you to our San Antonio hosts and partners for joining the conversation:
•Julianne Flynn, Executive Director, VA South Texas Healthcare
•COL Jen Gurney and Col Valerie Sams, The Joint Trauma System
•COL Kevin Kelly, Commander, Brooke Army Medical Center
•Dr. Robert Miller, Executive Director, Military Health Institute
•Mr. Eric Epley, Executive Director / CEO, STRAC
We also spent time with partners at Texas A&M University to learn about the robust capabilities and innovative work in emergency management, medicine, public health, and research. It was inspiring to see the deep spirit of partnership and cooperation that drives everything they do. We look forward to further collaboration!
